Would the ChirpStack FUOTA Server be capable of sending the ChirpStack MQTT Forwarder and relevant config to a gateway to auto-setup? Or would installing the MQTT Forwarder need to be manual?
FUOTA is for supporting firmware updates, for a LoRaWAN node. The reference algorithm involving the LDPC code is implemented, which allows firmware updates to take place efficiently because it doesn’t involve a request-response mechanism. There is also no need for retransmissions, as the node is expected to receive a reasonable number of blocks and the LDPC code allows the message to be reconstructed with sufficient blocks received.
What you’re thinking of, is something like Semtech’s BasicStation’s CUPS and LNS protocol functionality. Semtech’s LNS protocol allows the channels and other related parameters to be configured from the LNS, while CUPS allows the LNS settings to be pulled from a server, along with possible support for firmware updates.
