ChirpStack authentication to Mosquitto

Hi there, my Milesight UG67 gateways were connected to Mosquitto 100%. I decided I wanted to add authentication to the gateways, so updated the Mosquitto config with a password file to authenticate the gateways with credentials. This worked 100%, the gateways authenticate to Mosquitto and show as connected.

But this change has ChirpStack showing the gateways offline. I figured I needed to add authentication to Chirpstack to connect to Mosquitto as the gateways do, so created a separate username and password in Mosquitto and then edited the chirpstack.toml file and added the username and password under the integration section.

Still showing offline. If anyone has a guide or suggestions for this, would be appreciated.

You likely changed the MQTT integration and not the MQTT backend for Chirpstack. You will find the backend settings in your regional file (region_eu868.toml).

As an aside, only configuring authentication without encryption doesn’t do much. As someone could just pull the user/pass from your un-encrypted communication.
