Gateway OS Login Woes

Hi all,

Forgive me if I’m being stupid, but for some reason I cannot seem to login to the web interface of the latest gateway OS. I feel like I must be missing something simple, because I can’t seem to find anyone else whose facing the same issues as me.

For context, I’ve downloaded the latest version of the base image three times (4.6.2); flashed it onto an SD card with the Raspberry Pi Image tool, then inserted the SD card into a brand new Raspberry Pi 4B. Everything seems to boot fine, and I’m able to access the web interface at 192.168.0.1 once I’ve connected to the Wi-Fi AP, but the credentials listed in the v4 documentation here don’t work. I get an “Invalid username and/or password! Please try again.” error. I get the same error for admin/admin, root/admin, and admin/(blank), too.

Am I missing something obvious here? I can access the pi using the connected display, but I’m not sure how much use that will be. I also can’t access the web interface from a device on the external network (LAN network connected to ethernet port of the Pi).

Thanks in Advance!

Just to confirm,

You tried the username: “root”
and then for password you just left it blank and hit enter?

Hi Liam,

Thanks for your reply

I can confirm that I tried that. I’ve tried it several times, including after flashing a fresh image using the RPi image tool, using Balena Etcher, straight after booting it, after allowing it to boot and sit for a few hours, and after booting it and allowing it to sit for an hour or so, then rebooting it.

I’ve even tried re-downloading the image a couple of times, using a different, brand new SD card, and both allowing it to do its initial boot with the WAN ethernet connected and disconnected.

I’m not sure why I’m running into this roadblock when it seems like literally no one else is having this issue. Surely I must be missing something, or doing something wrong.

I was able to access it once, IIRC it was the version before the migration to SQLite, but I had to modify the password hash in the DB to get access. That was quite a while ago now though, and I’ve formatted and reflashed the SD card several times since then.
