License required to run LoRaWAN network

Hello,

please bear with me for this possibly totally silly question.
I’ve heard about (I’ve no references, I’ve actually just heard about) that a license or certification of the LoRa Alliance is required to build a LoRaWAN network using ChirpStack. In the documentation of ChirpStack I read nothing about this topic. Can anyone tell whether there is anything to this or whether this completely bullshit.

Thank you very much
Wolfgang

Hi,
As long as you are using NetID 000000 or 000001, you don’t need to pay anything.
See point 2.: https://lora-alliance.org/resource_hub/netid-faqs/
Cheers,
