In a multicast setup where there is more than one gateway, does chirpstack know which gateway to send the multicast message? in other LNS’s one needs to specify the downlink path, indicating the gateway to send it through, I don’t see the path in the API documentation for CS.

In ChirpStack v4, there are two options. If you do nothing, then ChirpStack will try to find the minimum set of gateways to cover all devices (based on uplink meta-data). You can also configure the gateways yourself since the latest releases:
